Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman Expands its Financial Services Practice

Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman announced today the expansion of its Financial Services Practice with the addition of five attorneys, further enhancing its capabilities to serve its global roster of financial services clients. The five attorneys include: three partners, Robert McLaughlin, Marilyn Selby Okoshi and Morris N. Simkin; special counsel Patricia L. Levy; and associate Jonathan J. Ching. All are joining the Firm's New York office, except Ms. Levy who will be based in the Firm's Chicago office.

The attorneys joining the Firm's Financial Services Practice are:
Robert M. McLaughlin, Partner
Robert M. McLaughlin concentrates his practice on financial transactions with an emphasis on over-the-counter derivatives, structured products, synthetic investments, extensions of credit and debt trading. His clients include foreign and domestic banks and other financial institutions, as well as hedge funds, mutual funds, corporations, individual investors, asset managers and government-sponsored entities. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. McLaughlin was a partner with the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his law degree from the New York University School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar of New York in 1984.
Marilyn Selby Okoshi, Partner
Marilyn Selby Okoshi concentrates her practice in the areas of investment funds and managers, finance, structured finance, derivatives and financial products. She specializes in the organization and representation of on-shore and off-shore hedge funds and private equity funds. Specifically, she advises funds and fund investors with respect to derivatives, loan transactions, secured transactions, loan trading, financial products and investments in Japan and other Asian countries. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Okoshi was a partner with Coudert Brothers LLP. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and her law degree from Stanford Law School. She was admitted to the Bar of New York in 1990.
Morris N. Simkin, Partner
Morris N. Simkin focuses his practice on the counseling of broker-dealers, investment advisers, and mutual funds from formation and registration, through ongoing operations and compliance. Additionally, he counsels brokers and banks on securities operations, risk management, financing, capitalization and liquidity. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Simkin was a partner in Winston & Strawn's Corporate practice. He graduated from Oberlin College with honors and received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He is licensed with the bars of New York and Pennsylvania, as well as with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Patricia L. Levy, Special Counsel
Patricia L. Levy focuses her practice on securities and derivatives law. She has extensive experience representing broker dealers and other financial institutions, both as an in-house lawyer and as outside counsel. She joined the Firm after having served as general counsel to The Hull Group, L.L.C., a Goldman Sachs company, advising Goldman's options market making and options clearing businesses. Ms. Levy graduated with honors from Miami University with a bachelor of philosophy degree. She received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1985.
Jonathan J. Ching, Associate
Jonathan J. Ching has worked extensively on over-the-counter derivatives, structured financial products and investment management issues. He was previously an associate at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP where he worked closely with Mr. McLaughlin. Mr. Ching received his B.A. from the University of Southern California and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 2002 and the New York Bar in 2004.
