Electra Partners Europe announced that it is to expand its presence in Europe by opening a new office in Italy and that it has changed its name to Cognetas LLP.
The Italy office will be in Milan headed by Maurizio Bianco, who has over 10 years experience in the private equity world. He joins Cognetas from Euromobiliare Private Equity and will be joined by two other professionals to form the local team in Milan.
The funds advised by Cognetas will also be renamed. Electra European Fund (EUR 1.0bn), which, in 2001, was Europe's largest "first time" European private equity fund, will be renamed Cognetas Fund. Electra European Fund II (EUR 1.26bn), raised last year, will be renamed Cognetas Fund II. This fund is about one third invested.
