ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM) today announced that Ivor J. "Ike" Evans, retired vice chairman of Union Pacific Corp. and Union Pacific Railroad, has been elected to the ArvinMeritor Board of Directors, effective May 31.

Ivor J. "Ike" Evans
Evans is currently an operating partner of Thayer Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm based in Washington, D.C.
He served as president and chief operating officer of Union Pacific Railroad before his election to vice chairman of the company in 2004, and is also a past director of Union Pacific Corp. Before that, Evans held positions of increasing responsibility with Emerson Electric Co., including that of senior vice president. In 1985, he was named president of Blackstone Corp., an automotive component and systems manufacturer.
Prior to joining Blackstone, he spent 21 years serving in key operations roles for General Motors Corp., within its Buick, Chevrolet, Delco Products and Harrison Radiator divisions.
Evans holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., and is also a graduate of the Management Development program at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
